Hunter Biden’s Art Dealer Hit With Subpoena

James Comer, the head of the House Oversight Committee, has recently issued new subpoenas to associates of Hunter Biden. These subpoenas pertain to various aspects, including Hunter’s art transactions and individuals linked to purported loans of over $200,000, which James Biden allegedly repaid to President Biden in 2017 and 2018. The Committee is seeking testimony from individuals such as Eric Schwerin, Mervyn Yan, George Bergès, and Elizabeth Naftali.

Earlier, Yan received a subpoena requesting his financial records associated with business dealings with Hunter Biden. Additionally, Comer urged George Bergès, the art dealer of Hunter Biden, to disclose all communications pertaining to an alleged agreement between his gallery and the White House. This agreement purportedly involves the withholding of records related to the prices of Hunter Biden’s art sales and the identities of the ultimate buyers.

Comer’s investigation encompasses past members of Americore Holdings, a financially challenged operator of rural hospitals. This organization provided loans totaling $600,000 to James Biden. It is claimed that James Biden used these funds to issue a $200,000 check to Joe Biden in the year 2018.

President Biden’s possible ties to his family’s business dealings domestically and abroad are presently being closely investigated by the House Oversight Committee. The larger impeachment investigation into President Biden, which is being led by Comer, the chairs of the House Ways and Means and Judiciary Committees, is entwined with this one.

The testimonies compelled by the subpoenas are expected to play a role in the impeachment investigation, where Republicans aim to determine if President Biden engaged in any serious wrongdoing, abused his office for personal benefit, or committed high crimes and misdemeanors.

Comer had earlier issued subpoenas for the personal and business bank records of Hunter Biden and James Biden. The results of this inquiry have raised additional inquiries about President Biden’s awareness of or participation in his family’s business dealings.

Nevertheless, the examination has faced criticism for being politically biased, with Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, denouncing it as a political diversion. Despite this, Lowell has affirmed that Hunter Biden is prepared to address these issues with the Committee in a public setting when the timing is deemed appropriate.
