RFK Jr. Blasts Biden’s ‘Refusal To Secure’ Southern Border

While Democratic presidential hopeful Robert F. Kennedy Jr. advocates progressive stances, particularly on matters related to climate change, he has garnered backing from conservatives thanks to his centrist or occasionally right-leaning positions on select contentious issues.

Recently, he joined a growing list of prominent Democrats who have critiqued the Biden administration’s ineffective immigration policy. In an op-ed published in Newsweek, Kennedy echoed the concerns of numerous Republicans, highlighting the President’s reluctance to secure the southern border. He argued that this stance has placed an overwhelming burden on local leaders throughout the country.

Observing that sanctuary jurisdictions were originally established to shield immigrants from Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations, he emphasized that the surge of undocumented migrants into these urban areas has become unmanageable. In his article, Kennedy reiterated his backing for lawful immigration while condemning individuals who have resorted to xenophobia and prejudice in advocating for stringent border measures.

He expressed that his drive to advocate for robust immigration law enforcement is rooted in compassion and a sense of humanitarian responsibility.

The presidential candidate, who faces an uphill battle against Biden, outlined a concise overview of what his immigration policy would entail should he secure the presidency.

“As president, I will secure the border to get the cartels out of the human trafficking business. Second, I will work with other countries to stem the tide of migrants. Finally, I will build wide doors for those who wish to enter legally, so that the U.S. can remain a beacon of freedom and diversity. This includes funding the administrative infrastructure for lawful, orderly immigration to this country,” Kennedy remarked.

Additional Democrats, such as New York Mayor Eric Adams, have in recent months voiced their criticism of the Biden administration’s border policies. They have pointed to the unabated surge of migrants, which has placed immense strain on the resources of communities across the country.

“President Biden’s coming to the city. I am hoping that he understands this beautiful city that’s the economic engine of the entire country is being saddled with $2 billion that we spent already, $5 billion we’re going to spend in this fiscal crisis, $12 billion in the next two budgetary cycles. New York doesn’t deserve this. The asylum seekers don’t deserve this,” Adams stated.
