This week, RNC employees experienced layoffs, a situation that millions of working Americans are all too familiar with. It has been claimed that more than sixty employees will be let go by the committee, which is now headed by Chairman Michael Whatley and Co-Chair Lara Trump.
Officials from the RNC’s communications, political, and data divisions were emailed that very day by party leaders. “Chairman Whatley [was] in the process of evaluating the organization and staff” to make sure the committee was “aligned with his vision of how to win in November,” according to numerous departments’ messages, though the specifics may have differed.

According to POLITICO, an RNC source did inform the media that the modifications were made with the express purpose of cutting down on bureaucracy. The news organization portrayed Trump’s reassertion of control over party operations following his nomination as a rationale for the reorganization.
Following Super Tuesday, the committee wasted no time in naming his candidates for senior positions. Whatley and Lara Trump are very much in line with the goals of the previous president.
Notably, Trump was instrumental in persuading Ronna McDaniel, the former chairwoman of the RNC, to step down from her position. There were rumours that the two leaders had an early February private meeting at Mar-a-Lago to talk about her job and the impending committee shakeup. The following day, Trump published an article on Truth Social in which he referred to her as a “friend” and said that he would wait until after Super Tuesday before making any choices. On March 8, her seven-year tenure came to an end.
