In yet another embarrassing public slip-up on Monday, President Joe Biden mispronounced the name of a Democratic lawmaker six times in front of her, embarrassing himself in the process.
The president started looking through the audience for Democratic Rep. Jahana Hayes of Connecticut when the dozing Biden, Jill Biden, and US Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona were at the White House to recognize the 2023 Teachers of the Year from the Council of Chief State School Officers.
In 2018, Hayes ran for the position formerly held by the current senator, and she won, becoming the fifth district’s representative in The Nutmeg State. The Chris Murphy. Prior to that, though, Hayes worked as a teacher and was honored as “Teacher of the Year” in 2016.
Biden mentioned Jahana’s name on Monday during the White House ceremony, but he sadly had no idea how to pronounce it.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that the woman’s name is Jahana and is pronounced Juh-han-uh, Biden kept referring to her as “Jonah,” as in a man, as in the biblical tale of “Jonah and the Whale.”
This old man is apparently about to announce that he is running for re-election to the White House, so this is nothing out of the ordinary for him.
As president, the 80-year-old Biden has made numerous mistakes.
It would take a lot of work to try to list every mistake this man has made while speaking from the dais, but let’s name a few. Despite having a teleprompter directly in front of him, Biden embarrassed the United States of America on the international stage when he stumbled over the names of NATO nations when speaking in Ukraine on Presidents Day this year.
In another overseas error, Biden mispronouncing the name of a New Zealand rugby team as the “Black and Tans” rather than its official name, the “All Blacks”—a moniker derived from their all-black clothing. On that occasion, the White House transcript team stepped in to kindly intervene and make the error vanish from the recorded record.
Then, in April, while discussing tax fraudsters, the president decided to try to spell the word eight during a speech but could only manage to get “e-i-g-h” out before quitting.
When he claimed he witnessed two males kissing in high school in the early 1960s, he even created a fresh falsehood about his life. He said that as a high school student, the encounter led to his “epiphany” to embrace gay rights. But the truth is that, up until around 2006, he had opposed homosexual rights and gay marriage.
Even the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, which established marriage as being between one man and one woman, received Biden’s support. Even without mentioning the impossibility of two gay men being seen kissing in public in 1961, this statement still stands.
