As the border town of Yuma, Arizona, has become overrun with illegal immigrants, some locals have hired armed security guards.
The number of migrants entering the country illegally increased by 171% in the Yuma sector of the Border Patrol between 2021 and 2022. Of the four million migrants that crossed the border, about a million did so through Arizona.
“Two of these families down here actually had to hire private security guards — armed security guards — to keep people out of their yards. They were constantly having people come into their homes, into their yards, and they were not very respectful,” Jonathan Lines, a supervisor for Yuma county, stated in an interview.

The town’s ability to produce food is impacted by the illegal immigrants’ harm to the crops, Lines continued.
Lines stated that because of the hospital overcrowding caused by migrants, some Yuma natives were unable to receive medical care.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has also transported migrants to the cities of Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC. This week, the Governor sent a busload of migrants from the town of Del Rio to Philadelphia, a “sanctuary city.”
Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington, DC, twice urged the Pentagon to dispatch the National Guard to assist with the immigration processing. Her petitions were rebuffed by the Pentagon.
Following that, Bowser claimed that DC is not Texas and cannot accept the migrants in an interview.
