Democratic congressman Cori Bush called Byron Donalds (R-FL), who is running for House speaker, a “prop” and accused him of encouraging “white supremacy” on Wednesday.

Donalds is getting attention as a potential replacement for Representative Kevin McCarthy as speaker of the House.

Donalds received Trump’s endorsement as a congressman but not as speaker.

Bush’s remarks coincide with the first time that there are two black candidates for Speaker of the House; one of them is Hakeem Jeffries, the head of the House Democratic Caucus. Donalds (R-Fla.) was chosen as the nominee by Republicans who were against Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) nomination.

Rep. Bush’s provocative remarks are not her first. As an example, a BLM militant who “prayed” for the murder of police officers and equated black Americans to Palestinians has been praised by Bush in the past.

Previously, during a hearing titled “Birthing While Black: Examining America’s Black Maternal Health,” Bush referred to pregnant women as “birthing people.”

“I am committed to doing the most to doing the absolute most to protect black mothers, to protect black babies, and to protect black birthing people,” Bush stated.

It was also found that she spent $70,000 on private protection over the course of three months in 2021, despite her stance that police services should not be paid. At the time, Bush told CBS News, “I’m gonna make sure I have security because I know I have had attempts on my life, and I have too much work to do.”
