Since 1992, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) has been a member of the Senate. Democrats have now started to call for her resignation. She has now made a specific request to the Senate majority leader.
Feinstein requested that Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) temporarily take her position on the US Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, April 12. When she had shingles last month, she was admitted to the hospital. According to NBC Bay Area, the senator expressed her concern that the “important work of the Judiciary Committee” would be delayed as a result of her absence.

Regarding the likelihood of her resignation, the senator said nothing. Nevertheless, she did declare in February that she wouldn’t be vying for reelection at all in 2019. Many Democrats have stated that they want her current tenure in the Senate to be her final one. They believe the 89-year-old should quit, and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) recently expressed this opinion.
It’s time for @SenFeinstein to resign. We need to put the country ahead of personal loyalty. While she has had a lifetime of public service, it is obvious she can no longer fulfill her duties. Not speaking out undermines our credibility as elected representatives of the people.

Khanna remarked that he does not believe she is capable of fulfilling her duties.
In the Democratic primaries, Rep. Katie Porter (D-CA) is vying for Feinstein’s position. The congressman has built a reputation in Democratic circles as someone they can bank on to criticize Republicans during hearings. In January, she declared her campaign, claiming the state “needs a warrior in the Senate.”
It’s also anticipated that Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) would seek for the position of senator. He has expressed interest in taking Feinstein’s place in the Senate. Democrats like Schiff because of his criticism of former President Donald Trump.
When Feinstein is anticipated to rejoin the Senate is unknown.
