Army Tells Soldiers to Fight Inflation with Food Stamps

As soldiers struggle to combat inflation under the Biden administration, the Army’s top senior enlisted commander, Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Grinston, is urging them to apply for food assistance among other actions.

“With inflation affecting everything from gas prices to groceries to rent, some Soldiers and their families are finding it harder to get by on the budgets they’ve set and used before. Soldiers of all ranks can seek guidance, assistance, and advice through the Army’s Financial Readiness Program.”

Inflation in the United States is hitting historic highs last seen in the 1980s. Despite the Biden administration this week celebrating the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, the price of food has increased by 13.5 percent.

Grinston’s advice to the troops comes as the Biden administration has already provided Ukraine billions of dollars in financial aid for its conflict with Russia and is getting ready to ask for an additional $13.7 billion.

In Germany earlier this week, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was asked to justify to American taxpayers why Congress should authorize additional funding for Ukraine given the nation’s poor economic state.

Austin did not explicitly respond to the issue, but he did say twice that he respected the demand for a justification.

Grinston’s recommendation that soldiers use food assistance to survive inflation was panned by Republican senators.

While soldiers are recommended to apply for food stamps, Arizona Senate candidate Blake Masters (R-AZ) pointed out that taxpayers were footing the bill for illegal aliens to be transported across the country at exorbitant taxpayer expense.
