In his California neighborhood of Atherton, which is home to some of the most expensive real estate in the country, NBA star Stephen Curry is currently opposed to low-income housing. Steph and his wife Ayesha wrote the following to neighborhood officials:
“We hesitate to add to the ‘not in our backyard’ (literally) rhetoric, but we wanted to send a note before today’s meeting. Safety and privacy for us and our kids continues to be our top priority and one of the biggest reasons we chose Atherton as home. We kindly ask that the Town adopts the new Housing Element without the inclusion of 23 Oakwood.”
TIL: Steph Curry has apparently “been following along with the housing element update” in the affluent Bay Area suburb of Atherton, and opposes rezoning to allow a single-family mansion to become 16 townhomes due to concerns of “both privacy and safety” 😭

It’s a bit hypocritical coming from the avowed Biden supporter who attended the 2020 Democratic National Convention with his family to back Joe for president. His wife Ayesha frequently discusses racial inequalities and societal injustices.
Curry goes on to argue that the town should chip in to hide the atrocities from his gaze if his efforts to stop the low-income housing fail.

Libs love pretending to care about the poor but the second it inconveniences them, they spit in their face. Shameful.
“Should that not be sufficient for the state, we ask that the town commits to investing in considerably taller fencing and landscaping to block sight lines onto our family’s property.”
In addition to his rich endorsement deals, Curry signed a four-year, $215 million contract with the Warriors in 2021. He is expected to make a cool $48 this season, which he can undoubtedly use to pay for some landscaping.
